How You’ll Make a Difference

The Emergency Duty Team is an out of hours, generic duty social work team covering South Gloucestershire, B&NES, Bristol and North Somerset.

You will make a difference to our out of hours Emergency Duty Team by providing comprehensive administration support, with a strong customer service focus when speaking to EDT officers, other professionals and our service providers.

The rota is fixed and covers 4 weeks on a rolling basis. You will work primarily out of hours including evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Sunday’s will be paid as time and half and bank holidays will be paid as double time.

What will you be doing?
  • In the role you will deal with incoming communication into the team, including voicemail messages and e mails. You will enter information onto the call logging system and be our call handler during busy periods, taking messages from social workers and other council staff, health professionals, police, service providers and users.
  • You will liaise with providers of emergency accommodation and other services, to secure resources and organise payment.
  • You will provide exceptional administration skills, especially when dealing with correspondence, writing reports and maintaining client records.
  • You will be required to collate and complete statistical reports and data return spreadsheets.
  • You will ensure that financial records and procedures are maintained, including using invoicing and purchasing systems.
  • You will support the team with basic IT Issues.

What We Need From You
  • You will have an NVQ 2 or 3 GCSE’s grades C or above or equivalent qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
  • You will demonstrate a knowledge of processes and procedures and an understanding of relevant regulations, codes of practice and required outputs
  • You will have initiative and judgement to resolve day-to-day problems independently.
  • It is essential that you have proven written and verbal communication skills, including a strong focus on customer service.
  • You may have proven budget monitoring or numeracy skills.
  • We will require you to have a good level of IT skills knowledge and experience.
