How You’ll Make a Difference

In this key role you will coordinate a high-quality local offer for South Gloucestershire’s Care leavers. Working with a range of specialisms and services, leading and guiding its development you will make a difference by working to ensure the best provision and outcomes for children, young people and families.

This advert is for a Limited Term Contract until the 30th June 2024.

This is open to external and existing employees; any internal staff wishing to apply on secondment should first seek their line managers approval prior to application as you will need agreement to be released from your current duties for the duration of this role.

What will you be doing?

You will be responsible for leading the implementation of the care leavers’ local offer ensuring it is up-to-date and relevant. You will work with partners, employers and key stakeholder in the delivery and implementation of the local offer.

You will support, champion and challenge professional practice and ensure the young person’s voice is heard and is integral to the service.

It will be your responsibility to secure social value offers (free or reduced cost goods and services) and commitment to the care leaver’ charter /employer’s charter from businesses and local employers as well as heads of service, directors and elected members within the council.

You will be a role model for best practice and will maintain knowledge of leading-edge best practice through research, review and personal development. You will ensure processes enable those involved to work creatively with children, young people, families and partner agencies to ensure the Care leavers’ local offer meets the needs of children, young people and families.

What We Need From You
  • You will have a recognised and relevant professional qualification for example degree or equivalent (for example this may include Social Work, Project Management).
  • It is essential you have substantial relevant post qualification experience in a relevant setting, such as Corporate Parenting or Social Care, that must include reviewing and developing services and leading other professionals and partnership working.
  • Y ou will have well-developed interpersonal skills – able to gain the commitment of and communicate, influence and negotiate with colleagues, partners, senior leaders and members.
  • You will be able to demonstrate your ability to work with partners, stakeholders and young people.
  • You must be able to think strategically, plan and drive forward deliverables.
  • You will be able to evidence on-going continuous professional development and a thorough knowledge of current legislation and practice relating to children and young people’s services.
