This is an exciting opportunity for Clinical Psychologists to be part of a new Maternal Mental Health Service (MMHS), working collaboratively to deliver the ambitions of the NHS Long Term Plan and Better Births in Cheshire and Merseyside (C&M).

The primary aim is to provide psychological intervention and support to women and families who have experienced perinatal loss, trauma and distress as a result of their maternity or neonatal journey. Inclusive of partners, care will be delivered via clinical psychologists, midwives, support workers, and peer support – drawing on local expertise as required (e.g. obstetricians, reproductive health experts, IAPT, third sector etc).

This post is subject to an enhanced with children’s and adult’s barred list Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check.

The MMHS pilot will also focus on prevention, ensuring that trauma-informed care is delivered universally. There will be an emphasis on training, supervision, capacity-building and upskilling of staff; co-production and community engagement; and the development of ‘family-facing’ pathways across the patch.

You will be responsible for the systematic provision of specialist psychological services for people suffering primarily from complex mental health problems.In particular, to provide services that meet the agreed service priorities consonant with practitioner experience and expertise. Such services to include the development and implementation of specialist psychological assessment and intervention strategies including clinical casework and the provision of consultancy work generally for the assurance of quality in the use of psychological methods by other team members.
