East Riding of Yorkshire Council is seeking to appoint a Senior Building Services Engineer (cyclical engineering) to work within the Building Services Engineering team of the Building Facilities Group. The team is normally based at County Hall in Beverley (Note: we are currently home based – working arrangements are under review), although you will be expected to undertake site surveys, inspections and attend meetings and events away from the office.
The Building Facilities Group provides a wide range of services including building services compliance, building maintenance and multi-disciplinary refurbishment schemes. Our property portfolio boasts a diverse range of buildings including schools, leisure centres, office accommodation, care homes and housing properties.
The primary function of this role will require the post-holder to oversee and manage cyclical engineering term service contracts ensuring that building services installations/systems/equipment are maintained to a safe and compliant standard. In addition, you may also be required to deliver quality building services engineering schemes and solutions, designing for new and refurbishment projects, producing specifications and CAD drawings and procuring the works in accordance with the council’s requirements. You will also ensure that contractors undertake work to the desired standards in a safe and efficient manner and in compliance with statutory regulations.
This post requires an enthusiastic and motivated engineer with experience in compliance, maintenance and design of building services, together with relevant formal qualifications, preferably at HNC/NVQ level 4, and the ability to demonstrate appropriate knowledge of current legislation appertaining to building services cyclical maintenance.
Ideally, you will be a member of a relevant professional body and working towards registration as Incorporated Engineer with the Engineering Council. Access to further training is available and is actively encouraged.
You will possess a full driving license, as the post requires the holder to undertake site visits in pursuance of their duties.
Applications from building services engineers with a mechanical bias and background are preferred, however those from an electrical background may also be considered.
Candidates are required to demonstrate all of the essential criteria on the employee specification attached in order to progress to the next stage of the recruitment process. Candidates who cannot demonstrate these skills in their CV will not be short-listed for interview.
