Summary

Downland School is a maintained community special school for pupils aged between 10 and 16 who have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP). In most cases the primary identified need is Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and behavioural difficulties. Though the majority of pupils have additional special educational needs such as Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), AD(H)D, speech, language and communication difficulties, opposition defiance and attachment disorders.

We have expanded our provision and currently offer 90 day placements for pupils referred from the local authority. Primarily our pupils come from Wiltshire, however, we have also educated pupils from BANES, Swindon, Somerset and Hampshire and continue to do so.

The school is situated on the southern edge of Devizes in beautiful countryside and opened in 1971. We are a happy, friendly and inclusive school. We are pleased to accommodate pupils with varying aptitudes and abilities and we are proud of the achievements and progress that all the pupils make. The staff team work as a cohesive multidisciplinary unit to overcome barriers to learning and to provide stability, consistency and the highest quality of education and care guidance to support pupils to make accelerated learning gains.

We are looking to appoint a School Finance & Admin Assistant.

We are looking to appoint a conscientious, dedicated and motivated Admin and Finance Assistant to join our friendly school team from 1st September 2021. The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance and Business Manager and Office Manager to support the admin and finances of the school and as such must have strong organisational skills, the ability to work proactively and have an approachable manner.

Key Areas Of Work Will Include
  • Placing purchase orders accurately for a range of staff.
  • Entering commitments via the school finance software system.
  • Input of order and non-order invoices.
  • Administraton of school lunch income.
  • Undertake word processing of correspondence, standard letters, reports, publications and other documents.
  • Welcome visitors to the school, ensuring signing in procedures are followed, receiving and prioritising incoming telephone calls, dealing with them app
Hours of work: 37 hours, 42 weeks/year.
