About Us

Our purpose is simple, to save lives at sea. Since the 19th century, our crews and lifeguards have been risking their lives to save those who are in danger of drowning.

We are seeking a Chartered Company Secretary to head up the Company Secretarial function and work closely with the senior management team to push forward governance strategy and manage governance projects and reviews. This position is a critical hire and pivotal part of the senior management of the RNLI.

Your role

As our Company Secretary, you will be focused on the following areas:

  • Managing RNLI’s governance processes effectively to ensure the smooth functioning of the RNLI
  • Deliver strategic leadership and ensure effective governance and support decision making at RNLI at Trustee board, and Committee level and to Directors of subsidiary companies
  • Working with the relevant chairs of trustee, subsidiary companies, and committees
  • Ensuring the RNLI has a robust framework for compliance with charity governance standards
  • Establishing and monitoring procedures to ensure compliance with the governance requirements of charity legislation, Charity Commission reporting and company law
  • Communicating board decisions to those required to implement them and ensuring that actions and tasks

About You

We are seeking someone with experience of managing and leading a high functioning governance team.

To Be Considered As Company Secretary You Will Need

  • Previous and substantial work as a Chartered Company Secretary and in a broad Governance role
  • Use of electronic board or meeting portals
  • Qualified Chartered Governance Institute
  • Planning and delivering meetings and events involving trustees and/or senior individuals
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
