Job Introduction

Do you know that a starfish has no brain or blood but relies on seawater to work

Or a moth’s wings are covered in scales like a fish.

Then we need you and your Teeny Tiny Creature research skills. We need two researchers to help us out on our the next series of Chantelle and Teeny Tiny Creatures.

Chantelle and Rory with Rory’s son Sandy, introduce the audience to fifteen more teeny tiny creatures, the environment they live in and the roles they play in the ecosystem. With the help of some amazing children, they investigate the fascinating world of biodiversity and the tiniest creatures that are vital to healthy ecosystems. Each episode focuses on one type of creature – learning how to identify it, what it eats, what eats it and its job – predator, prey, detritivore, pollinator or indicator species. Chantelle and Rory show the audience the impact these teeny tiny creatures have on the world around us and with their Teeny Tiny Tasks share how we can help them to help us.

Ideally looking for someone with experience of casting and finding child and adult contributors/locations plus doing fact checking on mini-beasts/insects. We also need someone that can find and set up locations and “bug” experts Research work can be done remotely.

Main Responsibilities

The researcher will be a key member of the team who responsible for the casting of children and their families and ensuring we have diversity at the heart of our decision making.

We also need someone who can source and set up locations and find “bug” experts.

They must make contact with a large amount of parents/guardians and collate information regarding their desire to be involved with the series.

We require them to carry out recorded interviews with applicants over Zoom.

Be responsible for ensuring databases are updated throughout the casting process and adhere to data protection regulations.

They need to write briefs and feedback to the SP and Executive Producer on the potential kids and their families.

Are you the right candidate?

You must have experience with working with children and their parents/guardians. You should be confident in auditioning and briefing children over Zoom.

Experience and knowledge of Child Protection and Safeguarding is key.

You should have excellent communication skills and be able to brief your SP and Exec on the various children you have approached

You should have experience of setting up locations and sourcing experts who can talk knowledgably on “bugs” and invertebrates.

Proven research and writing skills

You’ll have an appreciation for the importance of supporting and encouraging diversity whilst working on Production and make a positive contribution towards improving diversity in the course of your work.

Experience of working on location will be a bonus. You will have strong organisational skills.
