Job Introduction

At a time when the media industry is evolving, the BBC Design + Engineering division are looking for a Business Analyst to join the team that supports BBC Studios’ commercial operations. This team is dedicated to providing the technology services needed to help BBC Studios transform its operations and remain a leading producer and distributor of engaging, entertaining and unmissable content.

Working within a dynamic, diverse and inclusive project team comprising technology, business and third party suppliers, the Business Analyst is responsible for ensuring all business requirements are clearly understood and documented and that the solution provided brings about the business benefit and value expected.

The post holder will report to the Executive Product Manager of Content, Rights and Operations within Design + Engineering.

The product group consists of 20+ products that support the business needs of mainly Global Operations, Global Sales Delivery and the Content Investment teams.

The Business Analyst will have responsibility across content, production and operational supply chains, rights & deal management and asset management products/platforms and data ecosystems of BBC Studios.

Main Responsibilities

Some of your main responsibilities:
Engage with business teams and elicit requirements using the most appropriate method, running workshops, hosting interviews or observing existing workflows where necessary.

Document and prioritise these requirements in a formal way consistent with the needs of the programme’s governance model, ensuring that there is full traceability through the lifecycle of the project.

Carry out data analysis to validate requirements and to understanding information processing needs.

Apply data analysis techniques to help produce business data models that will be used for both configuration and data migration activities.

Define non-functional requirements, ensuring business objectives are well understood.

Continuously review all requirements as they are delivered against the benefits case to ensure that the project remains within scope and carry out impact analysis on any issues or risks that are identified.

Define, organise and coordinate user acceptance testing, closely tracking any issues and exceptions as they arise.

Are you the right candidate?

The ideal candidate should have the following skills and experience:

You will be a business analyst who has worked on a range of projects that demonstrate your ability to undertake the business analysis function. Having worked within a project or product team, you will be able to draw on your experiences, quickly identifying the type of analysis needed and then plan your own activities, arranging workshops and interviews as required.

You will have an understanding of the content media, publishing or similar industry and be able to grasp the complexities of this business, quickly and concisely.

As a Business Analyst you will already be able to build strong relationships with business and technology teams, adapting your style and approach to the audience and create a collaborative atmosphere. You will use your written and verbal skills to capture the requirements in a clear and concise but unambiguous way that ensures the product or service meets the business needs.

You will be enthusiastic and curious about how the business and technology works, driven by a desire to deliver a quality product whilst mindful of the goals of the project. You will comfortable challenging when requirements stray from the scope or the solution does not meet the needs of the business.
