We’re currently recruiting for a General Manager to head-up operations for one of our largest UK contracts.

Based from our centre of transport operations near Nottingham, you’ll be responsible for the British Gypsum Distribution Network. With 8 operational locations spread across the UK and over 500 full truck load movements per day you’ll be responsible for the operational performance of the contract, taking ownership of over 250 trucks and 550 trailers, with a team of around 600 staff. You’ll be responsible for delivering the key contract metrics for safety, service and cost whilst driving ‘operational excellence’

Pay, benefits and more:

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £70,000 per annum, plus a monthly car allowance (or company car) and an annual bonus scheme. In addition, we offer 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days. What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Oversee the day-to-day network operation and its key supporting functions
  • Alongside our Senior Safety Manager deliver the XPO Road to Zero safety strategy for 2022
  • Build and develop an effective management team for long term success, by developing talent
  • Working with your supporting functions, effectively manage budget targets, improve service performance and deliver key CI projects

What you need to succeed at XPO:

  • Strong on compliance and an international CPC qualification is essential
  • An effective understanding of budgets and P&L
  • The ability to communicate effectively with all customers and stakeholders
  • Previous experience of working within an unionized environment
