As our Volunteering Experience Officer, you will be responsible for creating a consistent and quality volunteer experience which is planned, monitored and evaluated. You will be coordinating volunteer involvement on and off property, ultimately increasing participation and engagement in all aspects of the Property Business Plan eg. Events & Programming, Nature, Inclusion and Growing Support through excellent service, talking about our cause and the benefits of becoming a supporter of the National Trust.

The Pay: £19,928 Prorated per annum FTE


The Hours: 22.5 hours per week

Day to day, you’ll be leading for our Volunteer Development & Support team across the portfolio with the aim of having a large and efficient family of volunteers in the right, mutually beneficial, roles. Our volunteers will feel involved, engaged and invested in because of the work you’ll be doing.


The role sits within the spirited Visitor Operations & Experiences Team which lead for the entire visitor journey, all the way from marketing through to the programme of events we offer whilst our visitors are on site and finally their feedback from the visitor survey and how we grow and learn from that. Our volunteers are a vital part of the experience our visitors have when on site, and you’ll be a key part of ensuring it works cohesively with our narrative.


You’ll be working on everything from general system queries and volunteer recruitment to creating induction and training plans and branching out to companies to help us deliver projects with Corporate Volunteering.

  • Has excellent digital skills and the ability to learn and understand new systems.
  • Has excellent coordination and organisation skills, including training or coaching others.
  • Has strong customer service skills.
  • Has advanced IT Skills (including Microsoft Office).
  • Has problem solving skills, and ability to work on own initiative.
