Hull Training and Adult Education is part of Hull City Council and is one of the largest providers of vocational training and further education in the region with an excellent reputation for delivering high quality courses. Recently rated by Ofsted as a Good Provider, we are looking to add to our team of skilled STL/Vocational tutors for 24 hours a week.

About You

You will be passionate about supporting learners on their journey into employment in early years and education settings. You will hold a Level 4 (or above) teaching qualification and an appropriate assessor award and have experience of work-based assessment.

You will be able to teach and assess candidates up to Level 3 in your area of occupational competence, either in early years settings and/or within schools.

You will be responsible for the planning, organisation and implementation of the assessment of learners over an academic year, under the direction of the Vocational Pathways Manager. You will manage the process of assessment in the classroom and take part in regular standardisation and moderation meetings.

You will assist with learner recruitment processes for example, initial assessment, learner interviews and Open Days.

We are looking for an inspiring and enthusiastic tutor with relevant teaching qualifications and experience of delivering Teaching Assistant and other vocational qualifications.

Relevant experience:

  • Undertaken initial and diagnostic assessments for learners, providing tailored SMART plans and targets where necessary.
  • Promoted and delivered training in accordance with qualifications and OFSTED guidelines.
  • Monitoring learners’ progression throughout their progress, recording it accurately on our management information systems.

Experience and Skills:

  • Experience delivering STLS/vocational courses
  • Experience teaching learners with learning difficulties
  • Proven experience in a work based / classroom-based learning, teaching and assessment background.
  • Train and assess learners, motivating and mentoring them to assist with developing personal social skills to better prepare learners for life.
  • Experienced in preparing and delivering learning plans including curriculum plans and teaching resources.
  • Good understanding of digital, online, and emerging technologies and understands and promotes principles of digital and online safety
  • Ability to apply principles and practices of assessment and feedback setting outcomes to reach the full potential of each individual learner
