The Quality team is part of the Business Improvement team within our Engineering and Sustainable Delivery (ESD) department and our aim is to deliver efficiencies to the business through a range of improvement and change initiatives. A key part of this involves providing advice and guidance, maintenance, monitoring, auditing and improving the systems and documents being used internally as part of the ISO 9001 management system.

Reporting to the Senior Quality Adviser and Quality Manager, the Trainee Quality Adviser is a key role within ESD’s Quality team and is responsible for driving continuous improvement and maintaining the quality management system in accordance with the requirements of ISO9001:2015 and technical standards.

Responsibilities

Once training and experience is gained you will be responsible for auding our quality management system and engineering and construction processes and procedures, while also supporting their continuous improvement and offering advice and guidance.

Quality audits are undertaken at a variety of office and construction site locations, meaning you will need a flexible approach and have the ability to travel across the Wessex Water region.

In addition to auditing and quality management system administration tasks, you will be expected to actively support the implementation and development of new processes. You will also participate in continual improvement projects, reviews, and assist with managing technical standards.

Requirement

As a Trainee Quality Adviser your technical expertise will become second to none. Your natural ability, influencing skills and your gravitas will guarantee you success in this role. It is essential that you gain knowledge of ISO systems and have a flair for translating complex technical information into simple language in order to engage, lead and advise our stakeholders.

Candidate

We are seeking somebody who can embody and demonstrate the organisation’s values and deliver excellent customer service to our internal stakeholders.

You will be gaining an understanding of construction and engineering processes.

You’ll need to be able to work collaboratively with other team members and with our internal customers in order to further the team and company objectives and targets.

Skills and experience

As part of your training, you will gain:

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and its supporting processes
  • Internal quality audit experience
  • The ability to write concise, accurate audit reports and identify appropriate, effective and achievable corrective and preventive action
  • Knowledge and experience of Office365
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Document management experience
  • Experience and knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint, including editing and publishing.
  • Awareness and knowledge of health and safety, environmental legislation and complimentary ISO management systems (eg, ISO 45001, 14001)
  • Awareness and knowledge of the construction and design management regulations 2015
  • Experience of second party management system audits
  • The ability to carry out basic root cause analysis
