We’re re-examining our vehicles and what a vehicle means in the emerging world of automation, connectedness, electrification and the shared economy. New ideas, new technology, and new approaches to mobility are our business. Join a team of next generation thinkers.

What To Expect

The Opportunity

The journey to an ACES (Autonomous, Connected, Electrified, Shared) future is enabled by vehicles that can adapt over time and that are highly available. The successful candidate will join the Remote Connected Vehicle Diagnostics team (part of Product Engineering) on that journey through the roll out of advanced over-the-air functionalities. Software Over the Air (SOTA) was first launched on the 2020 Land Rover Defender and is being rolled out across to all vehicles with the aim of eventually supporting all of the vehicle’s ECUs. Features Over the Air (FOTA) will allow the user to add new functionality to their vehicle as it becomes available or as they need it (on a subscription basis, for example). Connected Diagnostics Services (diagnostics over-the-air) will support of remote prognosis, diagnosis and even correction of erroneous vehicle behaviour without the need to visit service and the long-term monitoring of whole vehicle fleet performance.

The Remote Connected Vehicle Diagnostics System Engineer will be part of a multi-disciplinary systems engineering team which are responsible for the functional and behavioural definition of OTA functionality for current and future vehicle architectures, both “On-Board” the vehicle and Off-Board in Cloud environments. They will support the generation and maintenance of the SOTA and CDS requirements in the Traceable Requirements Management system (TRM) and model-based engineering tools (Catia Magic Systems) and ensure that requirements meet the required quality standards for content and traceability.

The successful candidate will:
  • Coordinate model-based system engineering artefacts and requirements activities for a connected diagnostics or OTA product.
  • Work with the other squads to ensure interfaces are well defined and dependencies between the squads are clear and resolve development issues.
  • Evaluate multiple system design concepts and maintain integrity between system and its components to arrive at a harmonised solution
  • Generate change request documentation for internal and external suppliers.
  • Lead failure mode analysis for the selected architecture.
  • Lead functional safety analysis for the selected architecture.
  • Generate and maintain SysML/UML Models for selected architecture.
  • Hold design and quality reviews with internal / external suppliers and teams.

Key Accountabilities And Responsibilities
  • Lead architectural model definition and delivery for the allocated Product against requirements for Efficiency, functional safety, cyber security, scalability, performance and availability.
  • Elaboration of the Product system design against the Platform, enterprise and business requirements.
  • Ensure that system requirements for the assigned Feature / Capability have been defined and reviewed, on time and with acceptable quality.
  • Ensure that all change to the requirements / architecture are traceable and managed.
  • Ensure that the assigned Product/System has been analysed from a Failure Mode Analysis, Functional Safety and Cyber Security perspective.
