WHAT TO EXPECT

Vehicle Personalisation is one pillar of the Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations division responsible for developing the strategy, product and process to deliver outstanding personalisation options for our customers. The Materials Subject Matter Expert role is closely linked to the Project/Lead Engineering role & is responsible for a diverse group of accessories ranging from Interior/Exterior trim, cargo and carrying, functional accessories, Premium Palette paints, Wraps, Films, Transfers/Decals & innovative materials.

In this role, you will be the subject matter expert for paint & materials, new innovations, technologies, application, systems, compatibilities, verification methods, standards, specifications, best practice & be supportive of the project engineers on a range of projects & commodities.

The role will at times include Laboratory testing, report writing & failure mode root cause analysis. The expectancy levels will be such that informed guidance & recommendations can be made to associated stakeholders.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

You will need to provide specific technical expertise for projects, and input into the planning and deployment of specific new technologies, systems, tools. Conducting research into new technologies, systems and methods and tools using industry specific tools. Providing technical expertise in specialist technologies, complex systems and tools and processes. Supporting the development of features and designs for future vehicle solutions.

Keeping up with current and developing engineering trends to support other technical specialists and SMEs through knowledge sharing and mentoring approach. Undertaking any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested.

You will also possess:

  • Previous experience in specialist technologies, complex systems and tools and processes
  • Analytical skills including the ability to conduct complex research into new technologies and manufacturing systems and tools
  • Degree or relevant equivalent experience preferred
  • Ability to effectively explain complex ideas, confidently presenting these to senior stakeholders
