About the Team

The Leeds team is well known for providing consultancy support offering a range of advice which includes valuation, lease consultancy and rating. Valuation assignments are predominantly for financial reporting & loan security purposes but with other requirements for taxation, statutory or strategic advice. Specialist section 18 diminution valuations support dilapidation and lease exit disputes.

This is a role in our dedicated Leeds valuation team directly supporting a partner to undertake conventional valuation work together with more specialist section 18 diminution valuations for a variety of property classes. We are seeking a recently qualified surveyor ideally with Registered Valuer Status albeit this is not essential. Landlord and tenant experience will further support the Section 18 element of the role.

The role will include preparing loan security valuations on behalf of the major lending organisations including UK clearing banks and alternative lenders. The candidate will undertake portfolio valuations for financial reporting purposes and corporate & institutional entities. Section 18 diminution valuations for end-of-lease dilapidations claims will be undertaken on behalf of a wide range of landlord and tenant clients both as a claim negotiation tool and as expert evidence for formal legal proceedings – you will be working alongside a nationally recognised leader in this field.

Main responsibilities
  • To provide valuation advice (loan security, accounts and other purposes) for a wide range of property types.
  • To write concise and accurate valuation reports to a high standard.
  • To carry out property inspections.
  • To use strong research and analytical skills to identify and interpret market evidence and valuation comparables.
  • To use good organisational skills to manage and prioritise a busy and developing caseload.
  • Adherence to internal processes, lender requirements and RICS regulations
  • To develop and maintain a strong network of internal and external contacts and to use these contacts in order to both deepen your professional expertise and further develop business for Gerald Eve.

About you:
  • MRICS qualified.
  • RICS Registered Valuer (preferred but not essential if willing to work toward).
  • Valuation experience for a range of property use classes.
  • Argus Developer / Enterprise experience.
  • Good negotiation skills, highly beneficial however not essential.
  • Able to work flexibly between tasks.
  • Strong drive for results and highly proactive in order to maintain momentum and complete the task.
  • A high degree of analytical ability.
  • Well organised with excellent planning, organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good personal and professional manner in dealing with client contacts at all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, coupled with an eye for detail, a commitment to excellence and developing strong client relationships.
  • Desire and energy to be involved with a variety of commercial, specialist and mixed use valuations.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and with minimal supervision.
  • Curiosity to expand experience and expertise
