Support Worker

We are looking for dedicated, passionate and resilient individuals to join our Family and Transitions team in North Lanarkshire as Team Members. We have up to 36 hours contracts available.

Our current rate of pay is £10.02 per hour, but we have an exciting pay award pending of £10.50 per hour which will be backdated to 1st April 2022.

The Role

Our Family and Transitions service provides support to children and young people with learning disabilities, autism and other complex support needs, and their families, throughout North Lanarkshire. Our small, dedicated team are committed to supporting children and young people to develop and achieve positive outcomes, and working collaboratively with families and other professionals to promote general health and wellbeing.

As a member of our team, you’ll support the children and young people in all aspects of their lives as they make the transition from childhood to living independently and make plans for their future. You will support them to do the things they want to do in the community, from horse-riding and swimming to working towards their Duke of Edinburgh award. You’ll support them to build upon their independent living skills and all aspects of daily living, including cooking and managing their finances. Supporting with their personal care and medication needs is also a key part of this role.

The children and young people we support come from diverse family backgrounds. Some of the individuals may have been affected by their own, or another’s, alcohol or substance misuse, or poor mental health and wellbeing. Our team provides essential support within these families to strengthen their own coping skills and strategies, and are occasionally required to provide to crisis supports.

About You

This is can be a sometimes tough but always hugely rewarding role. We are looking for people with a real passion to build relationships and positively impact the lives of the children and young people we support. What’s most important to us is that you demonstrate the right values and attitude to make a difference so, previous experience is not essential. However, it would be ideal if you have some knowledge of and expertise in implementing Positive Behaviour Support.

As travel will be required throughout North Lanarkshire, it is essential that you hold a full, clean UK driving licenceand have access to your own vehicle.

Shift Patterns

Your normal hours of work will be between 7.30 am and 10.30 pm, Monday to Sunday, and will be a mix of shorter shifts and longer blocks of support, including sleepovers.

You will be expected to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays as part of your rota. Sleepovers are not included in your contracted hours and you’ll receive an additional sleepover payment of £95.00 per night.

For this role, if you’re contracted to work 36 hours per week, you’re likely to work a minimum of one sleepover shift each week. This means you’d earn approximately £23,697 per annum, or £1,975 per month.

If you’re successful in joining our team, you will be expected to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and must be willing to work towards a SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare as required for SSSC registration. We will need you to register with the SSSC within 6 months of starting your employment with us.
