Here in the East Riding we are determined to deliver the best possible service to all our children and young people. We are committed to being a highly self-aware and constantly learning organisation where good practice thrives to support excellent outcomes. We are on a fast paced and ambitious transformation programme which is improving the experience of children in need of our services. We have come a long way on our improvement journey, supported by the Council’s total commitment to better children’s outcomes.
Following a challenging Short ILACS inspection in 2019 we have updated our systems and our practice through a fundamental ‘strengths based’ improvement and development programme. Our most recent focused assurance visit confirmed that we know ourselves well and that we have a strong leadership team with the right plans to deliver improvement. As we move into the next phase of change, there is an opportunity for the right person to join this team and help drive our journey to excellence.
We are seeking a highly experienced Children’s Social Care lead who has the vision, motivation, ideas, and practice to help us deliver the best possible outcomes for our children. The role will provide strategic direction for our child in need and child protection offer. If you are a passionate and confident leader who will thrive on the opportunity to drive forward high quality, consistent social work practice and improved service delivery, then this could be the job for you
Our strengths are significant, we are proud of our loyal and talented workforce, the great outcomes we achieve for so many Children and Young People, our community of great Foster Carers and excellent partnership relationships.
Our vision for the service is clear and ambitious.
We are looking for talented leaders who are passionate about practice and are focused on making sure that our services improve outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.
Our aspirations stretch well beyond ‘good’ as we develop a modern and sustainable outstanding practice system.
To support our ambitions we are seeking a Strategic Leader to join our great team and have oversight of our social work offer for children in need of help and protection.
As well as joining a great team you will benefit from:
- Reimbursement of Social Work England professional fees
- A Community Care Inform Learning Licence providing access to a range of innovative learning opportunities
- Competitive annual leave allowance including a Christmas ‘close down’ period
- Flexible working opportunities
- Contributory pension scheme
- Access to a salary sacrifice car scheme
- Access to a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme
- Salary at grade 17 - £58’041
- Direct management of a group of social work managers
- Strategic planning and practice development
- Maintaining systems for improving quality and performance
- Complex decision making and problem solving
- Budget responsibility
