Band 6 Training Post (Annex 21) - Specialist Physiotherapist – MSK/Pelvic Health Service

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Physiotherapist; with a combined interest in Musculoskeletal and Pelvic Health conditions within our outpatient services.

This post is to provide a highly skilled and specialised physiotherapy service in an outpatient MSK and Pelvic Health service setting.

The ideal candidate would have a special interest in MSK and Pelvic Health conditions. There will be scope within this post to work within our musculoskeletal, acute orthopaedic, obstetric, bladder, bowel and pelvic Health disorder rehabilitation clinics. Appropriate training will be provided for those with little experience in this area.

Main duties of the job

The trust is committed to staff professional development, offering clinical supervision from the band 7 within this clinical area. The provision of Clinical education for students from surrounding universities will be expected.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To perform specialist assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions.
  • To provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme
  • To hold responsibility for own caseload and be responsible for a defined area of service or patient type without direct supervision
  • To work in secondary care in a variety of hospital settings and the patient’s own homes.
  • To demonstrate as appropriate to role highly developed physical skills for assessment and treatment of patients eg dexterity, co-ordination, palpatory and other senses

To participate in bank holiday, weekend and evening working if required, following appropriate training, without direct supervision

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree in Physiotherapist
  • HCPC registration
Desirable criteria
  • Clinical Educators Certificate
  • Post Grad accredited study e.g. MSc in relevant health studies

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Advanced clinical knowledge relevant to the care environment and evidence of evidence based practise in relevant health setting
  • Awareness of own strengths and limitations
  • Knowledge of relevant national policies and guidance and relevant assessment tools
  • Experience of line managing a team including setting objectives, conducting appraisals and effective delegation and co-ordination
  • Evidence of effective working within an MDT
  • Experience of Service development
  • Demonstrate experience of problem solving approaches
  • Demonstrates continuous Professional Development
Desirable criteria
  • Audit and research in a clinical area

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates ability to motivate team performance to achieve objectives
  • Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines

  • Accurate record keeping, report writing and IT skills including presentation skills
