Role: Social Media Manager

Salary: £34,000 - £35,000

Location: Rugby and Home (40% of your working week will be at our head office in Rugby)

Role


Reporting to the Head of PR and Comms , this full-time position (37.5 hours per week) is based at the Rugby with occasional travel to other operational sites


Purpose


As Social Media Manager your primary objective will be to help develop the Air Ambulance brand (including Children’s Air Ambulance), increasing awareness and revenue and growing their capabilities and services as a charity, with the opportunity to leave a legacy and make a huge difference to the charity saving lives.


Relationships


Reporting to the Head of PR and Communication will be part of the Communications team, supporting all functional areas and liaise with external/internal stakeholders, including crew, fundraisers, supporters, the senior management team and agencies.


Scope


High Volume Activity


  • Helping shape and define our social media strategy to increase reach, engagement, and donations
  • Designing, running and monitoring social media campaigns
  • Creation of engaging content which significantly expands our reach (including copywriting, images, graphics and video)
  • Curation of content and publishing optimal mix/quantity across channels
  • Day-to-day engagement with supporters in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Continually measuring and reporting on performance
  • Delivering excellent customer service online
  • Keeping abreast of trends both within and outside of the sector
  • Finding innovative approaches to help us stand out within the charity sector, including exploration of new potential channels
  • Regularly monitor and report progress against targets and take appropriate action to ensure on budget performance
  • Evaluate all activities to cost/benefit ratio and act with clear benefit in sight either in income or awareness
  • Regularly update the Digital team on activities and support the digital effort across all areas when required, including on website, email, and other digital channels
  • Ensure all activities are in line with any laws, codes of practise, and guidelines, and that the reputation of TAAS is upheld
  • Keep abreast on competitor events activity and market trends to innovate and adapt our social media strategy accordingly


Generating Opportunities


  • Working in conjunction with colleagues, agencies, and other individuals to raise the profile of The Air Ambulance Service (through its Warwickshire & Northamptonshire; Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland and the Children’s Air Ambulance brands), so that we become a go-to brand for producing new and innovative social content
  • Seek out opportunities to raise awareness The Air Ambulance Service brands and raise them to a level comparable with the UK’s major charities
  • Plan around major campaigns to produce a sustained frequency of content which also manages to stand out amongst a highly competitive sector
  • Achieve agreed individual event income and expenditure targets
  • Develop own networks to deliver ongoing social media coverage through other brands, media organisations, companies and influencers


Income Generation


  • Use new tools to directly receive donations through social platforms
  • Prepare and deliver presentations/pitches/base visits involving appropriate colleagues as required
  • Ensure social platforms and channels drive audience towards making donations, providing tangible analytics and building on findings to improve conversion rates
  • Manage new prospects and maintain appropriate level of contact in order to gain
  • commitment/agreement to support
  • Manage a portfolio of channels across channels, with a demonstrable publishing strategy in place for each
  • Recruit and integrate social influencers to become TAAS ambassadors
  • Identify best means of allocating financial resources and where possible tallying against projected income
  • Be fully aware of data protection and patient sensitivities to avoid any liability or loss of income through negative publicity
  • Monitor crew, volunteer, and other accounts to ensure optimal performance and provide helpful hands-off guidance to help grow the reputation of those involved with TAAS


Data Analysis


  • Providing relevant feedback, data, and analysis to management to inform overall business strategy


Resourcing


  • Engage with the charities large social following – including more than 130k on Facebook alone – there is substantial scope for increasing and engaging our audience.
  • Creation of an extensive new Social Media Strategy and work across the organisation to develop TAAS’s use of social media to contribute to the aims and objectives of the charity


Internal/External Relationships


  • Take part in charity-wide multi-disciplinary projects and campaigns as appropriate

Person


Essential


  • Significant experience of working in a social media environment
  • Experience of managing a team
  • A background in social media, PR, marketing or journalism
  • Experience in creating and curating content across primary social media channels including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter
  • Experience of B2C social media community management
  • Ability to develop relationships with influencers and agencies
  • Demonstrable knowledge of how social media plays a part in the overall goals of a large organization
  • Ability to run analytics to identify and monitor trends across channels
  • Sound knowledge of digital marketing practices
  • A creative flair
  • Knock-out social media know how
  • Great communication skills
  • Solid content-production skills – including across videos, images, and writing – as well as bags of creativity
  • Steeped in the latest innovations in social media and aware of relevant trends.


Experience in the charity sector would be great, but we’re looking for the right fit for this role – including if you’ve worked elsewhere but see yourself in this challenging and rewarding field.
