Our PRUH site has changed significantly over the last 12 months. We have a new Group structure at King’s and a focus on ‘One Trust’. We have appointed new Site Chief Executives and Site Leadership Teams at the Denmark Hill and the PRUH. The site has secured new levels of capital investment and is making sustainable gains in performance, amongst the highest in London in some areas.

Due to maternity leave backfill arrangements within the team, an opportunity has arisen for a Dietitian to join our team of 15 Dietetic staff at the Princess Royal University Hospital site, part of King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

King’s has a long and illustrious history with emerging works in the area of science and nutrition. The authors of the Composition of Foods, Elsie Widdowson and Robert McCance met at Denmark Hill in the 1930’s and Dr R.D. Lawrence and the author H.G. Wells founded the British Diabetes Association (now known as Diabetes UK) from this Hospital on the Denmark Hill site.

The Nutrition and Dietetic department at KCH employs 63 staff across three main sites; Denmark Hill, Princess Royal University Hospital, and Orpington Hospital. We are leaders in several areas of clinical care including paediatrics, hepatology, diabetes, renal, cystic fibrosis, complex obesity and neurosciences.

Nutrition and Dietetics is part of a large Therapy department with over 300 Therapists that provide a service under a supportive management structure consisting of Head of Department and a Chief of Therapies. The department places a strong emphasis on the learning environment and ensures that staff have the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge to their full potential.

This 1.0wte Band 6 Gastroenterology Dietitian post will be based at the Princess Royal University Hospital site covering a maternity leave until November 2021. This post has both an inpatient and outpatient remit and works closely with the Band 7 Gastroenterology Dietitian.

The successful post holder will work closely with all members of the MDT to provide a proficient Nutrition and Dietetic service to our patients.

You will play an integral role in the large, supportive dietetic team at KCH. Our Nutrition and Dietetics department expects all staff to be involved in the teaching of other healthcare professionals, in line with our mission to provide excellence in clinical care, research and teaching in King’s Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre.

The department is dedicated to student dietetic training and accepts students on placements 1, 2 and 3. This post would be expected to be involved in the training programmes. A mentoring scheme for new staff is in place and you will be well supported in your role. As there are a variety of specialist teams in the department, there are plenty of shadowing opportunities available.

The department supports flexible working under the King’s Flex system. Applications for part time working will be considered.
