Job description
The opportunity
This is a key post to join the professional services team within Cardiff School of Technologies. An interesting and varied position providing administrative support to a range of financial, human resources and business operations activities to support the management and growth of the School, in compliance with University and School procedures.
  • Support the School’s procurement processes in line with Cardiff Metropolitan University’s Financial Regulations.
  • Support and maintain the School’s Asset Register, with specific responsibility for co-ordination and maintenance of loanable equipment records, in line with University’s regulations and processes.
  • Support People Services processes within the School including but not limited to induction, probation and staff performance reviews and ensure the School is compliant with Cardiff Metropolitan University’s People Services policies.
  • Service the School’s Health & Safety and Lab Steering Committees as required, including preparation of Agendas, monitoring actions and writing minutes.
What we are looking for:
  • A minimum of 5 GCSE’s grade C or above including English Language and Maths, or equivalent experience
  • Excellent literacy, numeracy & financial skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill,
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, tact and diplomacy at all times
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrable ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrable ability to organise, plan, prioritise and multi-task, ensuring competing deadlines are met by both self and others
  • Demonstrable ability to use own initiative and provide solutions to complex problems
  • Ability to work in an agile and flexible manner
  • Demonstrable ability to use Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and bespoke IT systems
  • Relevant previous administrative experience in a team working role
  • Experience of providing excellent customer service
  • Experience of reviewing practices and procedures and implementing changes to improve processes
