Job overview

We are looking for a Project Officer to join our Respiratory department.

Working with a vision of “delivering excellence in all we do” the post holder will provide administrative and project support to the Respiratory Specialities supporting the Service managers, Associate Speciality manager, Specialty General Manager and Head of Service team.

Reporting directly to the Service Manager the post holder will focus on supporting and delivering our portfolio of projects. The role will facilitate new developments and service improvements to provide excellent patient care.

Successful candidates will work as part of the management team to work on specialty projects with a view to making improvements in processes within the service.

Main duties of the job

The role will facilitate new developments and service improvements to provide a quality service for patients and to enhance the services and the needs of the users, putting the focus on the patient pathway.

The role requires liaison with all types of stakeholders, as well as writing and presenting key reports.

You will have experience in leading teams of individuals and motivating them to help the delivery of projects and performance indicators. You will be able to work under pressure and work to deadlines, have good communication and negotiation skills, excellent planning, time management and organisational skills. You will be able to prioritise your workload and to delegate your team’s workload throughout the day. You must be able to take on additional responsibility when required and be able use initiative to problem solve existing issues and any potential problems that may arise.

The post holder will be responsible for providing Project and Service development to the Respiratory Team.

The role includes aspects of operational and performance management as well as service improvement to ensure that the service achieves its performance objectives.

Support the Respiratory Team managers to track progress against plans, reporting any variations and proactively contribute to implement solutions.

Deliver proactive support to the Respiratory Team managers and complete individual work on projects (both solely and in a supported capacity) as required.

Intelligence gathering (qualitative and quantitative) for example, to support operational performance reporting, improvement reports, and other projects.

Take a lead on specific projects and provides support to other projects and developments.

Plan and organise own time and able to make decisions on the prioritisation of their own workload and of the admin team.

Contribute to the planning and implementation of new ways of working and contribute to the Business Planning process.

Support and liaise with the Operational Managers to ensure a cohesive office management approach.

Take a central role in communicating information regarding projects/work programme or activities to a range of audiences, including maintaining and updating information displayed on the Trust website, intranet and social media and internal communications.

Identify ways in which processes may be improved and put forward such proposals for the Senior Management team to consider.

Participate in the annual review and ensures commit to personal development.

Maintain and develop Standard Operating Procedures and other protocols according to department policy.

Travel when necessary, between sites.

    • Diploma/Degree level qualification or equivalent experience.
