Function

Sopra Banking Software have a unique opportunity for an experienced Programme Manager to take a leading role in our existing project management practice. As a dedicated Programme Manager to one of our largest retail banking customers, you will be responsible for programmes of work through their full lifecycle, and take responsibility for the overall programme success.

This Programme Manager opportunity is a fixed term maternity contract initially for 12 months and is based from our Sheffield office location with flexible remote working, but will require a regular customer site presence in the North West .

As a Programme Manager, you will be managing a variety of retail banking system projects covering system implementations, new releases, upgrades, and system migrations, as well as security, hosting, and cloud native projects.

Your main responsibilities would be:
Responsibility for a full programme of projects within our retail banking portfolio

Working closely with Client Account Director to develop new business opportunities and long term account strategy and roadmap

Set direction and determine strategy for delivery including resourcing, financial and commercial

Discuss strategic matters with internal and external stakeholders

Excellent stakeholder management to create new opportunities

Ability to operate at strategic, operational and tactical as required

Oversee existing Project Managers allocated to the Programme

People management such as 121s, appraisals, and setting of goals and objectives

Reporting on programme and project progress, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually

Build working relationships with the current Head of Programme and Project Office

Champion existing PPM best practice and be an advocate of Agile methodologies

Profile

Demonstrable experience of successfully delivering projects and programmes

Experience delivering programmes / projects from a 3 rd party supplier perspective

Knowledge of the software development lifecycle

Experience working with teams from an R&D, Professional Services, and Managed Services background

Qualified in a Project Management / PMP certification

Programme Management Qualification preferred

Desirable skills we can provide training on are:
Programme Management, e.g. MSP, Agile Programme Manager or equivalent.

P3O (programme, project, portfolio office)

Agile project management

PMI

APM

It would be advantageous to have experience of retail banking systems from a project / programme perspective and to have a business knowledge of the mortgage process and ancillary systems e.g. Collections/Arrears management.
