What To Expect

The diagnostics platform remains the key part of Jaguar Land Rover’s digital platform to enable support of legacy ECU and its transformation to next-generation vehicle electrical architecture. Using current and future industry platform standards as a reference, the diagnostic standards product owner will be responsible for defining the OEM specific use cases by liaising with business stakeholders and working with a squad of specialists to generate system architecture design, detailed technical requirements and standards which are applicable to the diagnostic systems, s/w components and associated tooling.

You will be working with other product owners, and group product owners within the Digital Platform to define the next generation diagnostics platform strategies. Define the product vision, mission and determine the value delivery to the business by prioritising the list of features. You will also collaborate with internal and external development teams to identify the optimal ECU diagnostics architecture and design to satisfy the needs of engineering, manufacturing, and aftersales diagnostic users. You’ll be responsible for the definition and successful sign-off and uptake of diagnostics standards for both new and current model year programme actions from concept through to launch.

Standards and specifications are only one part of implementing new strategies, in addition, you will play a key role in the definition of business processes, ways of working, and wider system changes to support the introduction of innovative new approaches to diagnostics. You will ensure that the OEM platform diagnostics requirements and all the associated diagnostics industry standards are well understood and that the correct design and operation of the diagnostic platform on Jaguar Land Rover vehicles are instated.

As the Product Owner, you will product leadership for a key area with Jaguar Land Rover and will work to direct a team, with direct management responsibility, to deliver class-leading capability within this Product space. You will be leading the development, presentation, and agreement of quarterly proposals for the Diagnostics Standards product roadmap, including new capability and improvement activities for senior leaders across the business.

Day to day, you will ensure work planning aligns with business priorities and the new agile approach through structured ceremonies and working cross product to ensure dependencies and interfaces with other systems are captured and managed

You will be engaging with both Cyber, IT, Manufacturing, Service, and Engineering teams to manage risk and prioritise activity as well as develop and cascade clear standards to access, design, and measure the quality of vehicles’ function, performance, and build. You will be responsible for driving and leading improvements in performance through clear feedback from stakeholders.

What You’ll Need

As the Product Owner, you will have significant knowledge & practical experience on Vehicle Diagnostics architecture and communications including Software update strategies, fault monitoring and reporting.

Essential

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Demonstrable experience in Automotive Electrical Engineering working either on systems or software engineering
• Awareness about next-generation high performance computer platforms
• Expert knowledge about legislative diagnostics and manufacturer diagnostics
• Knowledge about automotive networks with Ethernet as plus
• Expert knowledge of diagnostics protocols (UDS) & its associate specifications
• Knowledge about Data specification and exchange processes (like ODX, DEXT, ARXML, FIBEX, DBC) and tools needed to handle these formats efficiently.
• Knowledge about typical firmware update (flash) strategies.
• Knowledge of the related diagnostics tools (Scantool, flash tools, Diagnostics tools and strategies like SOTA)
• Awareness of communication-related Cybersecurity (SecOC, secure firmware updates, secure diagnostics and HSM)
• Experience with sleep/wakeup strategies, network management and variant handling
• Knowledge of requirements elicitation, analysis, definition, and management and experience with requirement management tools and development processes like A-SPICE
• Works under limited supervision. Ability to collect and build new knowledge as needed (New protocols, New Bus technologies, New Vehicle Architectures)
• Organized and structured workstyle and attention to detail
• Ability to solve problems efficiently and effectively. This requires a good system understanding of the involved Hardware, Software and customer Use-Cases.
