About The RoleBase Location: Flexible Scotland, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK sites, which includes but is not limited to: Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness.Salary: £44,100 - £66,100 depending on skills and experience + performance-related bonus + car allowance + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeingWorking Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options availableAs Process Safety Engineer you’ll be considered a subject matter expert in Process Safety risk and its potential impact on SHE and will champion a culture of process safety excellence within SSE Renewables.Some of your main accountabilities will include;
  • Supporting the delivery of a comprehensive SHE Risk Management systems against all SSE Renewables Business Units, which will involve supporting the delivery of annual SHE risk reviews, providing guidance on SHE risk management, the tracking and delivery of associated risk controls, and process safety improvements.
  • Contributing to the development and continual improvement of process safety and hazard management related management system components.
  • Reviewing incidents & high potential occurrences, considering process safety, and provide an overview of the adequacy of incident investigations and ensure lessons learned are shared, as well as completing Root Cause Analysis.
  • Providing subject matter expertise regarding process safety management, supporting the implementation of the SHE Assurance audit programme.
  • Chairing Project SHE reviews and providing guidance in relation to the process safety risks subject to SHE assurance activities including reviewing actions.
What do I need?To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
  • A degree level qualification or equivalent, preferably in a process safety engineering discipline, or similar.
  • Demonstrable experience in process safety, SHE, operations and maintenance management, preferably in a power generation related industry.
  • First-hand knowledge of a diverse range of plant and equipment, process safety concepts and principles.
  • Knowledge of best engineering practices, relevant codes, standards and legislation.
  • A solid understanding of risk assessment techniques in relation to process safety critical plant and processes.
  • It would also be advantageous to be working towards, or hold, a professional chartered status in a process or engineering discipline.
