Salary: £45,200-£67,800 depending on experience + car / allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

What is the Role?

As Offshore Wind Turbine Technical Authority you will provide technical expertise across a multi-£billion portfolio of offshore wind generation projects. You’ll ensure that project technology choice and design have achieved an optimum techno-economic solution to support the overall project deliverables, and maximise returns in a competitive market environment, whilst pursuing longer term engineering innovations to support SSE’s growth strategy and commercial advantage.

Some of your other main accountabilities will include;
  • Providing technical expertise and line management across the wider Offshore Wind Turbine Engineering Team, supporting, resourcing and assisting in the development of staff.
  • Ensuring that SSER governance and quality process are applied across the portfolio of offshore wind projects to give assurance that the design solution will achieve appropriate engineering standard and legislation and deliver the stated project objectives and returns.
  • Providing engineering assurances that the operational assets are compliant with all internal and external engineering standards and coordinate engineering support activities for operational teams.
  • Establish long term innovation programmes to provide opportunities to further optimise project design solutions, improve the management of risk, or support the commercial deployment of lower through-life cost technologies.
What do I need?
  • Be a chartered engineer or have a clear path to becoming chartered.
  • Have demonstrable technical knowledge and experience of the wind turbine procurement process, with a detailed understanding of the latest wind turbine technology being required. Preferably the experience will relate to Offshore Wind Farms.
  • Show experience of implementing governance processes and quality management systems.
  • Demonstrate a track record of manging and working with external stakeholders, such as wind turbine manufacturers, to deliver projects on time and within budget as well as preparing for future project opportunities.
  • Strong commercial acumen and a firm grasp of the context and implications of engineering activities and decisions, illustrating an innovative mind set with a flexible approach, and the ability to deliver high quality work on a consistent basis.
Although office based, you will be required to travel as and when is required by the work being undertaken, sometimes to remote locations. A full UK driving licence will be required.
