We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join Professor Michael Dustin at the Kennedy Institute, to work within the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences at the University of Oxford.
You will be a member of a research group with responsibility for carrying out research on formation of the immunological synapse by T cells in response to different anti-CD3 antibodies and bispecific T cell engagers that incorporate these specifies. The project is supported by Regeneron and will involve regular meetings with leading industry scientist working to bring bispecific T cell engagers to the clinic.
You will manage your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadline, as well as contribute ideas for new research projects and adapt existing and develop new scientific techniques and experimental protocols. You will collaborate in the preparation of scientific reports and journal articles and occasionally present papers and posters and represent the research group at external meetings/seminars, either with other members of the group or alone
You must hold a PhD/DPhil in Biomedicine or related field together with relevant laboratory experience and hold sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes. You will have significant technical expertise in molecular and cell biology, experience in lymphocyte isolation, culture and transfection and experience in flow cytometry. Experience in working with synthetic lipid membrane systems such as supported lipid bilayers and/or microfluidic/micromanipulation methods is essential.
It is desirable to have experience with image analysis packages like Fiji including scripting for batch processing.
This is a fixed-term, full time position for 2 years.
Due to the nature of the research at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, this job will require additional security pre-employment checks:
  • A satisfactory basic Disclosure and Barring Service check
  • University security screening (eg identity checks)

The closing date for this position is 12 noon on Friday 23 June 2023. You will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your online application.
