The Role

We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join the payroll team that processes the bi-weekly payroll for our United States and Canada employees.

What You’ll Do
  • Prepare and process the bi-weekly payroll for 2000+ employees in a multi-state and multi-provincial environment.
  • Manage regular preparation of relevant management reports, including bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports.
  • Ensure all pay transactions including wages, taxes and other deductions are journalized to the GL and payroll related accounts are reconciled in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Manage payroll administration aspects of third-party administrators to ensure accurate record keeping and payroll processing.
  • Solve complex payroll issues by analyzing problems, reviewing employee time reporting history, and determining corrective action and entries as needed.
  • Maintain tax reporting and table maintenance.
  • Implement new functionality for payroll drills.
  • Quickly acquire an understanding of the Solera’s decentralized model and identify methods to deliver reporting and centralize the system of record.
  • Collaborate with management, IT, external vendors and department personnel to define, test and implement system modifications, new payroll products and/or enhancements to existing payroll systems needed to meet the changing needs of the company.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree or 5 years of payroll experience required.
  • Workday experience required
  • Strong attention to detail, professional and persuasive communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to thrive and be motivated by a fast-paced team environment; practicing sound judgment, adaptability, problem solving.
  • Strong initiative and self-starting disposition.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state and local payroll tax laws.
  • Experience with accounting and financial reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of legal regulations surrounding payroll in the United States and Canada.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive data appropriately.
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Applications).
  • Must be organized, analytical, detail-oriented and accurate.
  • Must have a strong teamwork orientation, as well as solid written / verbal communication skills.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to work with all levels of staff and management.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, which may include late nights or on occasion weekend hours to complete required payroll duties.
  • Ability to sit for multiple hours at a time and to work multiple hours a day at a computer keyboard.
  • Ability to remain alert and focused throughout the day.
  • Forward-thinking and creative, with the confidence to present and advocate for the implementation of ideas.
  • All other related and/or additional responsibilities that may be required or assigned.
  • Payroll certification (FPC or CPP) preferred.
