Job Title –Payroll Specialist

Location –Corby (NN17 5JF)

As a Payroll Specialist you will provide an accurate and timely payroll service for Electrocomponents PLC in the UK in line with legal and statutory requirements and to pay employees accurately and on time within the payroll team. You will support change within the payroll process and assist with moving the payroll to a high-level excellence service provider and to raise the payroll profile within the business and also work effectively with Finance, HR Service Centre, HR Reward and Pensions Team to support the delivery of an engaging and effective employee benefits package.

Reporting to the Head of Payroll EMEA, you will be a part of an organization that promotes personal development, growth, and career progression and who will provide you with the tools and training you need to excel in the industry.

  • Delivering operational excellence
  • Researching, developing and recommending policies to ensure compliance in advance of HMRC changes which impact all aspects of Employment Tax directly or indirectly
  • Adding value to payroll related and associated activities by continually critically reviewing and analysing processes on order to develop and maintain an innovative payroll strategy.
  • Partnering with HRSC, Reward, Pensions and Indirect Procurement to deliver an engaging and effective employee benefits package
  • Maintaining SAO, HMRC, External and Internal Audit compliance in relation to employee remuneration
  • Delivering compliant executive share and Bonus Plans
  • Effective business operation and risk management in relation to payroll related activities.
  • Maintaining an effective disaster recovery / business continuity plan.
  • Overseeing day to day operational pressures and constraints so as to mitigate the impact on maintaining SLA’s and KPI’s
  • Building and maintaining excellent working relationships with internal and external customers and peers
  • Ensuring confidentiality in relation to all aspects of payroll activities in line with the GDPR
  • Proactively evaluate industry initiatives / new developments in order to provide insight and recommend potential opportunities for process improvement and / or impact on payroll related and associated activities
  • Act as a role model to embed Electrocomponents The Way We Work Behaviours
  • Encouraging and supporting Payroll team engagement, staff development and appraisals
  • Promote health & safety at all times

What you will need to be successful in this position:

  • CIPP diploma in Payroll Management or demonstrate equivalent level of competency. Previous experience of working in a transactional payroll processing function
  • An in depth working knowledge of PAYE, NIC, Student Loans, Court Orders, Salary Sacrifice and Statutory Payments (SSP, SMP, SAP, OSPP)
  • Understanding and working knowledge of HMRC compliance
  • Ability to calculate manual payments
  • Understanding of the Data Protection Act
  • PC literate, with proven ability in using Excel, Word & PowerPoint to extract, manipulate and display data in a meaningful and insightful manner
  • Ability to understand, respect, interpret and communicate appropriate message/information confidently and effectively with good interpersonal skills – at all levels, with the utmost tact and diplomacy
  • Team Ethic, working in a team environment
  • Demonstrates highest level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Experience using ADP iHCM Payroll system software
  • Experience using SAP Finance system software
  • An understanding of Dispensations and PAYE Settlement Agreements
  • Experience of Benefit in Kind Reporting, P11D and payrolled benefits
  • Knowledge of EMEA or Global Payroll Processes
