An opportunity has arisen to join the Oral & Maxillofacial Department at NUH. Working 16 hours per week based at Queen’s Medical Centre.

The hours can be flexible either Mon, Wed, Thurs and Fri @ 4 Hours per day

or

You can work the hours over 3 longer days, but must include a Friday

Main duties of the job

You will be working as part of a busy team. This job role would mainly involve audio typing of clinical letters, scanning documents onto the system as well as other administrative duties.

It will be essential that the post holder can demonstrate excellent communication skills, and be an organised individual, as well as being able to work on their own initiative and able to respond to queries in a diplomatic and professional manner.

You will need excellent time management and organisational skills. Have knowledge and experience of using software programmes including Microsoft Office.

You will need to be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of confidentiality issues, be well motivated and reliable.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To be responsible for the audio typing and transcription of all clinical correspondence across all specialties within the Directorate.

The post holder will be expected to ensure all clinical correspondence is typed and processed within specified timescales and will need to demonstrate a flexible approach to the job, providing typing support for the speciality.

The post holder will need fast and accurate audio typing skills and a sound knowledge of medical terminology.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 5 GCSE or equivalent in English - C or above
  • RSA 3 or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Typing and word processing experience. Experience of Microsoft office.
  • Understanding importance of Confidentiality
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of hospital systems including Medway , Med Office etc

Communication skills

Essential criteria
  • Uses correct grammar and spelling
  • Excellent written communication skills

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

NUH will scan your ID and right to work documentation in to the Trust ID system at your face to face ID appointment. The system will run a check against the key security features within your documentation. The system will provide us with an outcome of your check which will be stored securely on your personal file along with all other pre-employment check documentation.

  • Transfer of information: If I have previous NHS service - I consent to the transfer of my Electronic Staff Record (ESR) data between this and other NHS Trusts. I also consent to the Occupational Health Departmentconfidentially accessing my occupational health records from my current or previous employer in order to check the status of my vaccinations, immunisations s and screening tests as relevant to the post. I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.
  • Disclosure and Barring Service: Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incur a cost dependent on the level of check required (£45 for enhanced and £28 for standard). I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if it is required (by deduction from first month’s pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
