Job Description

We are delighted to be working with our Legal client supporting their recruitment for a Mental Health Solicitor to cover Cardiff and Wales. This is a full-time role, working 35 hours per week, and there is flexibility with how you work the 35 hours.

The role can be worked remotely, or office based.

The salary on offer is £32,000 - £38,000 per annum depending on experience. Holidays are 25 days plus Bank Holidays, plus your Birthday off, as well as statutory pension scheme.

This is a very exciting opportunity to join a small but growing Legal Practice specialising in Mental Health and also support with developing the Cardiff office.
We can consider candidates on an employed or consultancy basis.

The Role:

  • Efficiently and effectively managing a personal caseload, taking client instructions and providing high quality legal advice
  • Representing clients at CPA meetings, Hospital Managers hearings and Mental Health Tribunals
  • Preparing documents as required for mental health hearings such as skeleton arguments
  • Achieve agreed financial targets, in respect of fee income File management in accordance with the Office Procedures Manual, Specialist Quality Mark and LAA contract requirements
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of all firm and client documentation, maintain high standards in the processing of client work, both in respect of professional standards and client care
  • Compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct, and SRA Accounts Rules, compliance with continuing professional development requirements of Regulator
  • Ensuring compliance with Equality and Diversity Policy

The Person:

  • Admitted as a Solicitor or Barrister, Mental Health Solicitor experience
  • Law Society panel accreditation
  • 3 years post qualification experience
  • Established client base within the Cardiff / Wales area
  • Organisational and management ability
  • Excellent face to face communication, advocacy and negotiation skills
  • Legal Aid Supervisor status is desirable
