The Alliance Operations manager will provide oversight to various aspects as it relates to maintaining alliances with third parties, Alliance Management and the scientific business owners. Due to complex external relationships that the R&D business manages this role will create a more standardized support structure that is required to integrate alliances. This role would serve as, but not limited to, partner meeting development, coordination of project deliverables and organization of documentation to support GSK practices and policies.

  • Active member and advisor on due diligence plan for landing alliances in GSK, which includes resource planning, risk identification and business requirements needed to integrate a newly forming alliance.

  • Early phase Alliance lead for integration of the alliance into GSK, which includes data governance framework, risk assessments, risk mitigation plans, portfolio maintenance of activities, implementation of decision framework and other GSK operational activities to fully enable the alliance team.

  • Establishment of communication and engagement practices between GSK lines and with the alliance partner.

  • When appropriate, establishing the finance framework and effort tracking reporting

  • When appropriate, facilitation of meetings and agendas for joint steering sessions

  • Decisions and action tracking with consistent logging

  • Ongoing operational support throughout the progression of an alliance to maintain quality, timely deliverable of outputs and overall value of the interaction.

  • Leverages knowledge of the science, portfolio and strategy of R&D to create and manage program level plan of all major alliance activities (including objectives, risk management, contracting activities, and others).

  • Understands the needs of the R&D business to effectively integrate and maintain the needed alliances and partnerships with outside parties.

  • Successfully diagnose, design and deliver strategic alliances and partnerships in support of R&D objectives.

  • Demonstrated matrix management skills and clear ability to work and communicate effectively in cross functional team environment

  • Develop and ensure consistent project plans to implement key initiatives and utilizes experience to ensure successful implementation against the established plan

  • Develop and lead cross-functional teams to deliver project goals through clear roles, responsibilities and escalation paths

  • Ability to understand and resolve conflicting needs of key stakeholders

  • Accountable for development and quality of integrated project plan (timelines, milestones, interdependencies, resources and identification/management of critical paths.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:


We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • 3-5 years Prior Operations, or Alliance Management

  • 1 year experience utilizing MS Office Suite, including Office 365, Skype, OneNote, MS Project or equivalent, to track and report project progress required

  • 3 years experience with management of communication tools, document management systems and enterprise solutions (i.e. Sharepoint site administration; Oracle based enterprise systems, CRMs)

Preferred Qualifications:


If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus

  • Strong operations experience with associated understanding of GSK systems, policies and procedures. This will provide a skill set in the role to assist with the introduction and integration of the Alliance into GSK, making sure governing rules are followed, issues are minimized and the correct tools are applied to meet the alliance needs.
