Job Purpose
To produce prototype equipment for design evaluation and test. To feedback information and ideas for improvement to the Engineering Design team. To perform in house electrical and mechanical testing to required regulation and support external test accesses. To help and support the development of new and existing products. To create and control test reports and build documentation.
Key Accountabilities
Produce prototype equipment in line with Design specifications. To contribute to continuous improvement of Laboratory equipment and practice. Take an active part in all team working and continuous improvement initiatives. To feedback design / manufacturing feasibility to Engineering Design To actively participate with Design Engineering in the development on new product, To contribute positively to project meetings and take responsibility for actions required Assist the preparation for and provide support on external testing. Record and provide feedback and advice to Design teams on test results. To be responsible for the creating, organise and control build and test documentation.
Dimensions
The role will be based at Thame UK. Visits to overseas factories, and to UK and overseas test facilities will be required
Secondary activities / tasks
To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required / instructed in order to maintain and / or improve the efficiency, quality and service provided by the Prototype Department. Health & Safety - adherence to all Company Health & Safety Policies, Procedures and Safe Working Practices.
Experience Knowledge & Skills
Functional Competencies
Essential
A good background and knowledge of mechanical / electrical engineering. Computer literate to an intermediate level in Microsoft Excel / word / outlook Interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications Good manual dexterity
Desirable
Knowledge of HV / MV switchgear. Knowledge of mechanical and electrical testing

Other Requirements ONC or HNC in mechanical / electrical engineering preferable UK driving licence
