Legal Officer (Civil Disclosure)

1 x Full time role (37 hours per week) Temporary for 2 years

Salary: Scale SO1; £29,793- £31,725

Location: ALVERTON COURT, NORTHALLERTON with agile working

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a rewarding role within Joint Corporate Legal Services at North Yorkshire Police which is part of Evolve Legal Services advising the Chief Constables and the Police and Crime Commissioners and their staff across North Yorkshire, Cleveland and Durham policing areas.

The Legal Officer (Civil Disclosure) will work within the Civil Disclosure Unit (CDU) within Joint Corporate Legal Services. This is a challenging and rewarding role, having specific responsibility for casework in relation to requests for (and disputes about) disclosure under statutory and common law regimes, including:
  • Freedom of Information
  • Data Protection
  • Disclosure in civil legal cases, including family court matters
  • Disclosure to professional and other regularly bodies

You will have significant demonstrable IT and research skills as well being able to effectively manage high workloads and work to specific deadlines. It is also essential that you have experience in analysing information and making effective decisions in order to meet the requirements of this role.
Working as part of a team and with the drive and enthusiasm to make a real difference in this vital arena, you will enjoy working on your own initiative and have the ability to advise and assist colleagues at all levels of the organisation, in relation to information concerning the full range of policing and corporate issues.
It is preferable, but not essential, that you have worked in a disclosure office or FOI/DPA environment.
