Axcis are pleased to be working with a large secondary academy in Newton Abbot who are looking to recruit an experienced education worker to work as Leaning Coach to support a small group of KS3 and KS4 students who need addition support with their English and maths.

The school has a very welcoming atmosphere and a supportive environment and has excellent resources. It has been described as having a positive and inclusive working ethos and has excellent links to public transport.

The role will be to work with small groups of students that have ASD, ADHD and SEMH within a smaller classroom setting. The pupils all have anxiety and struggle in social environments so your role will be to provide encouragement and confidence. You will be a role model, mentor and daily support to the students you will be working with and will need to be able to establish a good working relationship with them. Commitment is an essential trait as these students need consistent support. You must have a calm nature and ability to de-escalate situations. The successful candidate will be creative, flexible and patient as well as being compassionate and empathetic.

Experience must include having worked as an LSA previously and experience of supporting low ability pupils.

This is a temporary role that could develop into a permanent position with full-time hours Monday to Friday 8.30am to 3.30pm on a term time only basis and will last until the end of the current academic year. The role will start as soon as you are cleared for work.

This role pays £80 per day, paid on a weekly basis.

If interested you will need to come in for a one hour registration meeting, after that everything can be done over the phone and via email. You will need a valid DBS on the update service or be prepared to purchase a new one and a minimum of two references, preferably one from a job or volunteering role where you’ve worked with children or with people with special needs.
