Axcis are recruiting for a strong Maths or English Teacher to work at a SEN school in Torbay on a long term basis until the end of the academic year.

The school specialise in providing individualised education to secondary age pupils that all have an EHCP relating to severe SEMH / trauma. For many of the pupils the school is the most consistent thing in their lives and the staff go to great lengths to provide a safe, secure and nurturing environment in which the young people thrive.

As Maths or English Teacher you will be teaching classes of no more that 5 pupils that are studying for their GCSEs. Within the classroom, you will be supported by experiences TAs and 1-1 staff.

It’s essential for this role that you are creative, engaging and resilient. The environment can be very intense at time and as Teacher you will need to ensure your class remains engaged and focusing during these time.

It is essential that candidates have previous experience working with SEND pupils, ideally within specialist SEND schools or PRU’s. Working in this specialist sector also requires a great deal of compassion and a child centered approach. In addition, you will also hold a relevant teaching qualification.

Whether you’re available for 2,3, 4 or 5 days per week we’re very keen to speak to you. The roles start in mid Jan 2022 until the end of the academic year. Hours are 8.30 to 4pm and the pay is £130 to £160 per day depending on experience.
