Our client is recruiting for an Installation Engineer Apprentice to join their exciting In-build engineering team.

The Company

The company is a leading provider of bespoke communications infrastructure services to the telecoms, broadcast, data and wireless industries. Founded in 2000, they now have 3 offices in the UK and over 250 people in the team. Whatever the communications engineering problem, they will help.

The Position

Salary:

£9,000 - £10,000 pa

Role and Responsibilities:

The In-Build Engineering team work primarily on the installation of in-building distributed antenna systems for internal cellular coverage for the major network operators. This involves the installation of RF coax, copper or fibre cable from a central comm’s room to specific locations around a building where small antennas and devices are installed.

This can be working in anything from a two-man team up larger teams (10-12) for the bigger installation. Typical locations are shops, offices, shopping centres and sports stadiums, but can be anywhere where better internal coverage is required.

Key activities

  • Installation of cable containment (Cable tray, trunking etc.)
  • Installation and termination of RF Coaxial cable
  • RF cable testing with Anritsu Site Master (Training provided)
  • Installation of RF devices
  • Working at height – Ladders, Steps, Podiums and Elevated platforms

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:

Required:

  • IT skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Word and Excel.
  • Capable of working in locations throughout the UK.
  • Flexible on working hours (days, late shifts, nights, and weekends).
  • Grade C or above in Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent).

Competencies:

  • Takes a proactive approach to problem solving in a team environment.
  • Honesty and reliability.
  • The ability to prioritise work, work on your own initiative.
  • A strong willingness to learn new skills.

Candidates will be trained to a high level in all required areas of Health & Safety along with various types of technical training.
