The Position

Location:

Peterborough. Cambridgeshire

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday Full Time.

Salary:

£10,000 pa

Your day to day role will be learning how take ownership of technical installations, troubleshooting issues on site and learning how to complete and submit documentation required to sign of jobs.

You will be working with predominately Broadband, Fibre and Mobile products - using some of the newest technologies on the market, but you will also be exposed to legacy Telecoms equipment to ensure you have a good all-round understanding of telecoms.

Work environments will anything from working in offices and data centres, working in telephone exchanges and on mobile mast sites to working on street side cabinets and rooftops.

You will learn:

• How to use tools correctly and how to identify the correct tool for the job
• Health and safety in the workplace and how to identify problems at site like asbestos
• First Aid
• How to set up signing, guarding and lighting for street works
• How to select and maintain your PPE gear
• How use basic Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel as well as a variety of applications to complete your work.

Installation work will vary and will include but not be limited to:

• Fibre optics
• Copper
• Chassis and racks
• Small and large switching and routing equipment
• Mobile and small cells
• Commissioning and basic command structures

You won’t have to be a total technical guru or have lots of industry experience to join this apprenticeship, just be curious about technology and have a practical and/or engineering appreciation. You’ll learn everything you need to become part of a leading telecom installation team.

What we are looking for is people who genuinely enjoy providing excellent customer service; have a real passion and enthusiasm for all things technical; the willingness to learn and most meaningfully a "can-do attitude".
