Jaguar Land Rover has also recently launched its Open Innovation activities – looking to foster collaborations with start-ups and industrial partners and aiming to become one of the top innovative companies in the world.The role will involve leading innovation and technology activities in the EV charging space, including mapping the market and innovation/technology landscape, identification of gaps and opportunities, and scouting of potential solutions. Moreover, the role will cover activities required to deliver proof-of-concepts / minimum viable products along with longer term implementation planning. This is a specialised role, requiring in-depth knowledge and commercial acumen, and the ability to keep up to date with all developments in a fast-moving environment.This is a highly collaborative role; your leadership skills will mean you have the ability to work directly with stakeholders and lead activities from conception to delivery.Core to the role will be the requirement to disseminate the knowledge and expertise into the business to enable all functions and stakeholders to incorporate the learning into their respective planning activities. The individual will work with JLR’s external partners, internal and regional teams.In your role:
  • Support innovation and technology activities within the Electrification Services team
  • Become a SME in – and build a knowledge base of - market innovation and technology trends, and of gaps and opportunities that may open for Jaguar Land Rover on EV charging and energy services
  • Develop business cases for new technologies and/or solutions – including definition of potential customer propositions, benefits, and impact to the business
  • Validate new technologies and business models through PoC and/or MVPs (fail fast approach). Work with the operational business and stakeholders to develop MVP delivery and ongoing development plans
  • Manage stakeholders to ensure all PoC / MVP projects add value and are aligned to stakeholder expectations
  • Working closely with our Innovation scouting and VC teams
  • Engagement with JLR Electrification Services strategy and teams to ensure all requirements are captured and future technology and developments are embedded
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time
What you’ll need:
  • Technology/market knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
    • EV technologies
    • EV charging hardware and equipment
    • EV charging management platforms
    • Smart Home / IOT / communication and charging standards
    • Home Energy generation and management
  • Strong commercial and technical awareness of Electrification services technologies and market developments, with the ability to develop relevant new business models, commercial solutions and business cases
  • Ability to spot technical, business or customer service opportunities – and to build a comprehensive case for pursuing them
  • Customer experience mind-set
  • Ideally, previous experience in innovation management, or at cusp of EV technology
  • Experience in customer discovery and validation
  • Experience/interest in testing business ideas (POC/MVP)
  • Experience in dealing with fast a paced environment, and specifically working with Start-ups
  • Ability to communicate in clear and concise way – simplifying technical details, business/commercial approaches for internal and external audiences
  • Excellent team player, able to interact cross-functionally at different levels within the business
  • Ability to work in a matrix organisation and to influence others outside of direct team
