What’s the mission?


Cyber Security is a top priority at Marshalls, and we are committed to protecting our hardware, systems and networks from theft, damage, and disruption of cyber threats. We have an opportunity for an experienced Cyber Security expertto join the team. We’d love someone who has a broad knowledge and experience of using a range of technologies and processes to protect the business from cyber threats. You’ll be working closely with the rest of the infrastructure team to manage and maintain our existing cyber security defenses and with cyber security auditors to facilitate annual audits and address findings. The role also involves working across all areas of the organisation, assisting in the IS Systems to ensure cyber security standards are being met, people are educated, and we’ll look to you to consider all things related. This is a pivotal role at Marshalls where you will make an immediate impact. With one eye firmly on the future, you’ll be leading the way, proactively working with the business to simplify and standardise processes, and embracing a positive, innovative culture, inspiring others.
What are the mission-critical skills?


  • Several years of Cyber Security experience, ideally incorporating both on-premise and cloud security
  • A solid foundation of enterprise infrastructure knowledge, backed up by practical experience
  • Strong understanding of business processes, security regulatory risk management, incident response, and security vulnerabilities
  • In-depth knowledge of firewall management, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Solid understanding and experience with network, operating systems, database, and app security concepts and methodologies
  • Ideally, security-specific certifications would be beneficial (Security+, CISSP, ISSAP etc.)
  • Strong problem-solving skills, forensic approach, logical thinking with meticulous attention to detail
  • Enthusiastic self-starter with broad technical knowledge and a hands-on approach
  • An understanding and enthusiasm for new technology and design
  • Flexible approach to out of hours’ work on occasion
  • You will need to be based within a commutable distance from our office in Halifax and commit to a balance of working 1 -2 days from the office on a weekly basis.
