Job DescriptionAn alternative provision in Ripon are seeking an Inclusion Worker on a full time basis from September 2021.
The role includes providing practical support for learning and educational activities, developing pupils’ social skills, supporting integration, and securing pupils’ physical and emotional wellbeing, whilst raising their self-esteem and encouraging independence. This work will involve supervision of small groups of pupils either in or out of the classroom with the Senior Inclusion Worker/Instructor or the class Teacher present.
Our client is a school providing longer-term full-time education to Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils (ages 11 to 16) with wide ranging Social, Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Additional 1:1 teaching is also available for a small number of pupils who are referred with medical needs or those whose needs are more complex.
The school are seeking an individual who recognises that children and young people may present themselves in a variety of ways. These may include becoming withdrawn or isolated from their friends and studies through to displaying challenging, disruptive, or disturbing behaviours. For many young people, these behaviours may reflect underlying mental health needs.
The successful applicant will have a proven track record of successfully engaging vulnerable children and their families and the ability to work imaginatively with parents/carers, teaching/support staff in schools and colleagues in other agencies and provisions.

Your Responsibilities Will Also Include
- Ensuring individuals and groups of pupils are engaged in all learning activities as a result of staff planning, delivering, communicating and working with them effectively.
- Researching, selecting and preparing teaching resources that meet the diversity of pupils’ needs and interests.
- Maintaining and analysing pupils’ progress, attendance and attainment to plan and deliver effective interventions.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
