About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Internal Audit to help create and deliver a holistic oversight and assurance plan that clearly drives business and strategic benefits that create better outcomes for Simplyhealth and our customers. Reporting to the Chair of the Audit Committee with a dotted line to the Chief Risk Officer , you’ll provide assurance that Simplyhealth is effectively delivering on its strategic plan and has effective governance and controls in place to ensure the strategic plan is delivered in line with risk appetite.

You’ll lead a small internal team supplemented with co-sourced skills from an external 3 rd party, to act as a trusted advisor to the Chair of the Audit Committee and the Board providing expert advice to support their oversight of the business.

You’ll be accountable for the development, delivery and execution of the Internal Audit strategy, plan and charter, working closely with leaders across Risk and Compliance to develop and execute a holistic Assurance Plan. You’ll be accountable for the development of the Internal Audit function and, as a key leadership role within Simplyhealth, help to develop and embed the wider risk culture across the organisation.

You’ll be responsible for the management and utilisation of external co-source budget to ensure robust assurance is provided across the business, you’ll also be responsible for reporting to the Audit Committee and Board on the performance of the risk management, governance, and internal control environment.

In addition, under the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) Senior Managers Regime this role is SMF5; meaning you are the person responsible for managing the internal audit function of Simplyhealth and reporting to the governing body on this.

Please note this role will be home based until further notice due to COVID-19; there may be a requirement to attend meetings at our Hampshire head office in line with government guidelines.

About You

This is a ‘hands-on’ role, where you’ll need to balance strategic decision making, senior stakeholder management, leadership and team development, managing the 3 rd party relations and co-sourcing activity as well as leading individual audits.

You must have previous experience as a Head of Internal Audit (ideally with SMF5 or deputy duties), with a proven track record of delivering a risk based, comprehensive and flexible audit strategy to assess, report on and make suggestions for improving key operational and financial controls.

You’ll have significant experience of managing the end to end audit life-cycle, including conducting audit investigations, assurance work and root cause analysis to identify underlying themes as well as demonstrable experience working independently with limited guidance required, whilst providing appropriate coaching and direction to Internal Audit team members.

You’ll be effective at cultivating relationships with management at all levels to promote a culture of risk awareness and sound internal control as well as a natural people leader able to lead and motivate individuals to perform at their best.

In Return

As a PAYE colleague you’ll receive a competitive basic salary plus:
  • 16% group annual discretionary bonus
