An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our education and development directorate as the Head of Clinical Education.

The successful candidate will work alongside the Associate Director for Education and Development, Chief Nurse and System Directors for Nursing, in the development and delivery of clinical education and workforce development across the Torbay and South Devon integrated care organisation. A particular focus will be on supporting the agenda to deliver the priorities set nationally and locally by the NHS People Plan, including the expansion of nursing and AHP training and careers and delivering education and training in new and innovative ways. The post holder will be leading the development of clinical education and workforce development across the whole health and social care community locally and at a wider Devon system level.

Applicants must hold a professional registration as either a nurse, midwife or allied healthcare professional. Applicants must have the experience and skills to implement new programmes of work during particularly challenging times and have the ability to collaborate across teams and organisations to achieve transformation of education.

The successful candidate will work in partnership across the STP to develop clinical education that meets the needs of a rapidly changing health and care system and will have a pivotal role in the changes required and new education programmes being developed. You will play an influential role in co-designing the future education strategy and programmes required across our workforce inline with the emerging health and care strategy. This will be achieved through working with colleagues across all of our health and social care teams to ensure a collaborative approach to designing future education.

You will be joining the organisation at a particularly exciting time for education and training, whereby career pathway development and continued professional development are more critical than ever to ensure we have a workforce fit for the future. We are ambitious that together we can create an education landscape that is attractive to people who are either at the early end of their working lives or those wanting to work more flexibly and across traditional boundaries and also that the developing education landscape is responsive and adaptable to emerging workforce requirements.
