Are you looking for a new challenge in a Specialist Nurse role with a difference? We are offering an 18 month fixed term maternity cover position within our friendly team of 6 surgeons and 3 nurses providing care for patients undergoing laparoscopic benign upper gastrointestinal surgery.

The successful candidate will be given support and guidance in developing into this role and is a great opportunity to develop professionally and personally.

The position combines a variety of different duties from assisting surgeons in theatre to supporting GI patients along their surgical journey from ward to theatre, post-operative recovery and discharge. Follow up of discharged patients is also crucial to the role in the form of telephone support and nurse led clinics.

Acute surgical experience is a must but you do not require theatre experience as we offer in house training and competency assessment. The purpose of the post is to facilitate a positive surgical experience for the patient, facilitate a timely, safe discharge and reduce readmissions.

This post is offered at Band 6 for experienced candidates but could be a developmental post for a band 5 with a written competency framework to work towards band 6 once competencies achieved.
