This is an exciting opportunity to join Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, as it has become one of the first vertically-integrated health and care organisations in the country.

The acquisition of the community health and social care provider (Torbay and Southern Devon Health and Care NHS Trust) allows us to radically re-think and re-shape the way we deliver care, free from traditional organisational constraints.

Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust is a busy and progressive Trust, with acute care based at the District General Hospital. We are delighted to offer the opportunity for a motivated and skilled individual to join our friendly, effective and forward thinking Respiratory Department. The successful applicant will join a team of 5 Respiratory Physicians who currently work as a single team, sharing responsibility for the management of both in-patients and out-patients.

We are keen to recruit a further consultant, on a Fixed Term 12 month contract, to join the young team already in post and all sub-specialty interests will be accommodated. The Trust would welcome a colleague with experience in clinical research but all interested candidates are invited to apply.

The post is open to post full-time and part-time applications. For full-time there is a 10 PA allocation, plus uplift for on-call commitments.

Torbay Hospital is a busy, successful and progressive hospital located on the English Riviera, South Devon’s beautiful bay which is surrounded by stunning coast and countryside. We are famous for our award winning beaches and vast countryside waiting for you to explore. The cities of Exeter and Plymouth are also close by with access to all major cities via excellent rail links. Opportunities for outdoor activities both on and off the water abound, with easy access to the neighbouring centres of Plymouth and Exeter. Strong links exist with the Plymouth and Exeter Medical Schools and the South West Peninsula Postgraduate Deanery. Our catchment area covers 300 square miles and therefore Torbay Hospital serves a resident population of approaching 300,000 people, plus about 100,000 visitors at any one time during the summer holiday season.
