Structural Soils, a member of RSK Group, is looking for an ambitious Ground Investigations Engineer to join their team in Wigan. Structural Soils undertakes ground investigation contracts throughout the whole of the UK from various regional offices. Staff from these offices also link-up to support our strategic major projects. Contracts are undertaken for all sectors but traditionally rail and public sector projects form a large proportion of our workload.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As a member of the team, you will be expected to assist in the delivery of geotechnical projects and will therefore be able to demonstrate technical, commercial and site management capabilities.
  • Managing small to medium ground/site investigation contracts including the production of factual reports
  • Supervision of site investigation works and projects in the following sectors: house builders, commercial property developers, public sector bodies, manufacturing and industrial
  • Effectively communicating with clients and colleagues to build strong working relationships with the aim of meeting and exceeding client expectations
  • Manage site works to meet both commercial and technical requirements and delivering appropriate solutions wherever necessary
  • Stewardship of health and safety in accordance with company standards and guidelines

Person Specification:

  • Relevant years’ experience in similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree in geology/civil engineering or a related environmental subject essential
  • Practical experience in supervising and managing Ground Investigations.
  • Excellent presentation and report writing skills
  • Client driven with the ability to motivate and engage with immediate colleagues and those across the wider RSK business
  • Full, clean driving licence essential
  • Occasional travel to different sites and the willingness to stay away of extended periods of time, is required.
