Global Payroll Framework and Compliance Partner

About The Position

In this role, you will work in a small team of passionate HR experts within Rewarding and Mobility, to which you will add your expertise in Global Payroll Framework and Compliance.

The first part of the journey, which is estimated to be the initial three years, you will be working on leading the creation and implementation of a future Global Payroll Framework and hence drive all payroll evaluation and potential future set up proposal. You will furthermore identify a strategy and future improvements around Time and Attendance solutions globally. In your role, you will act as a single point of contact for HR colleagues locally in the countries and the responsible face towards potential vendors and external stakeholders.

You will therefore have various touchpoints within HR, both on local and global level, as well as other stakeholders across the company, such as Finance, or external, such as relevant legal authorities in countries or potential providers.

The second part of the journey after successful implementation of the framework is to secure quality as per implemented measures (such as KPIs and SLAs) and continuously improve in areas of further automation, data collection, maintenance and provision to relevant parties both internal and external.

You can be located in any Wärtsilä location. Work is remote or hybrid.

As Global Payroll Framework and Compliance Manager, you will be focusing on:
  • Identify a strategy and future improvements around Time and Attendance solutions globally, based on due diligence conducted
  • Define the mid-and long-term strategy for Global Payroll Framework and Time & attendance solutions for the respective countries in scope, at max. for approximately 19.000 employees across the globe, according to local regulations and requirements
  • Lead the implementation of the framework, where needed together with your HR Technology colleagues and local colleagues from both HR and Finance, where applicable. If applicable, this means leading any sort of out- or insourcing activities
  • Continuously benchmark and ensure existing solutions are fitting the company’s need
  • Continuously improve existing solutions, monitor market trends, benchmark and ensure all solutions in place are meeting the company’s needs and requirements
  • Continuously improve ways of working around payroll and employee HR data processes, including further automation as much as possible and where applicable
  • Establish measurements for payroll performance and compliance
  • Monitor KPIs independently and take appropriate actions where needed, both internally as well as towards external stakeholders (Vendor management)
  • Ensure overall compliance with relevant legislation guidelines in countries

About You

To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone with:
  • Strong background in global payrolling solutions and framework
  • Proven track record of implementing payroll and/or time and attendance solutionsa on global level
  • Ability to understand compliance, regulatory, HR and business needs and translate these into actionable and compelling services within our HR Operating model
  • Show high levels of customer service and orientation, including improvement of employee experience with regards to payroll and time solutions
  • High levels of discretion given the nature of data you will be working with.
  • Have a wide experience in Payroll practices, experience in detailed Taxation and Compensation/Benefits practices across regions such as the US, Nordics or Central Euope (e.g. Germany, Netherlands) is a plus.
  • Technical knowledge and experience of implementing tech solutions supporting payroll and Time & Attendance
  • Highly resourceful, self-driven with the ability to partner, execute and lead through influence and collaboration – across the organization.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and capacity for learning.
  • Be service-oriented - if you don’t know something, you will for sure find out!
  • Experience with Time and Payroll modules in SuccessFactors is considered a plus
  • Be passionate about improving the imperfect – we are constantly looking for ways to work smarter!
