The Global Category Manager will be an expert in their category and have an in-depth knowledge of market conditions and activities (incl. supply chain and competitor analysis), to best inform contract executions. The Global Category Manager will be the control point of SSE’s route to market and will lead, or project manage others to best inform a range of sourcing activities in support of category plans in accordance with all policies and procedures.The Global Category Manager will work closely with the Onshore and Offshore Wind businesses to support their growth ambitions within the Global Onshore and Offshore Wind market. The Global Category Manager will liaise with stakeholders, supply chain and third-party insight/forum organisations on a regular basis, to ensure that the status of category plans remain current and reflective market conditions, and that real time cost data is accurate and available for use by the wider SSE Procurement & Commercial team.The Global Category Manager will be expected to have a solid understanding of the Onshore and Offshore Wind Turbine Market including knowledge of the competitive landscape (other developers/competitors) and OEMs. Insight into upstream raw material producers and refiners is also welcome.Using their understanding of the market drivers and cost components, the Global Category Manager will create forecasts on future price points and capacity/availability, developing, refreshing and recommending strategies to ensure that SSE Renewables is the customer of choice. Allied to this, an understanding of Environmental, Social and Governance risks in the Global Onshore and Offshore Wind Turbine markets (e.g. US Jones Act) and potential mitigation actions are also key to the role.Working with our Supplier Relationship Management Team, the Global Category Manager will be responsible for maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders & supply chain, (pre/post contract placement LCP G0-G5), to ensure that essential support is provided as and when required throughout the lifecycle of our projects.The Global Category Manager will be responsible for identifying new market entrants and where applicable, the development of the relationship with the supplier.What do I need?To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the successful delivery and execution of a complex category; CIPS qualification preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge of UK and EU Procurement Legislation.
  • Proven track record in cradle-to-grave category management and executing associated complex procurement activities.
  • Broad knowledge of contracts with ability to draft special terms, including dispute procedures and specific in-depth knowledge of at least one form of contract.
  • Knowledge of relevant statutory and legal provisions.
  • Knowledge of Procurement related systems e.g. Oracle, Emptoris/Jaggaer, Achilles Utilities Vendor Database.
