If you’re looking for you next role, have established interest in law either through further education (e.g. LPC or ILEX) or experience within a process driven legal environment and would like to join a growing team, our Fraud team are looking for a number of File Handler Assistant Level 2 to join the team.
The File Handler Assistant will work closely with an experienced File Handler within our Counter-Fraud team. The role involves working on litigated fraud cases on behalf of a wide range of Insurance clients. Whilst the Assistant will not have ownership of any of their own files, they will be responsible for assisting the File Handler in following the court timetable and progressing evidential enquiries to ensure the effective resolution of claims, securing the best possible outcome for our clients.
Key Accountabilities
The work handled by the Assistant will be governed by the caseload of the File Handler that they are assigned to. In addition to a core of basic drafting and reviewing competent ices, the File Handler Assistant will be expected to assist by:
• Dealing with all elements of the court timetable such as:
o Drafting pleadings;
o Making and dealing with complex and/or potentially contested applications;
o Drafting Part 35 questions;
o Instructing and dealing with experts;
o Instructing and working with Counsel;
o Attending Interlocutory Hearings;
• Liaising with our clients in relation to the progression of cases to include:
o Liaising with customers and witnesses;
o Considering the impact of evidence on strategy and advising our clients as to impact and next steps;
• Liaising with others in order to secure favourable outcomes, to include:
o Negotiating terms of agreement with opponents, to include settlement of damages and costs where required.;
• Any other tasks as they arise during the course of assisting the File Handler to efficiently run their caseload

Essential Skills and Attributes:
• Established interest in law either through further education (e.g. LPC or ILEX) or experience within a process driven legal environment
• Experience of drafting court documents and understanding of processes
• Good telephone and communication skills with people at all levels inside and outside the business
• An ability to organise and prioritise tasks using initiative
• Calm under pressure with the ability to re-prioritise and delegate effectively when required
• An ability to analyse evidence
• Good Literacy and IT skills
• Good team worker with the flexibility to do what is required to get a result and ensure client service levels are met
• Ability to work effectively within the Keoghs Shared Behaviour framework
