This exciting opportunity would be ideal for someone interested in developing their specialist skills with in the areas of critical care and surgery. We are looking for a dietitian with a solid foundation in general dietetics to work closely with our existing team of specialist Band 6 & 7 dietitians. Oxford University Hospitals Foundation Trust (OUH) is a world renowned centre of clinical excellence and one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the UK.

There are four ICU units supporting patients at the John Radcliffe (JR) and Churchill Hospitals in Oxford and a HDU at the Horton Hospital in Banbury. There are two general adult intensive care units across the JR and Churchill sites along with a specialist Cardiothoracic and a Neuro ICU, both at the JR.

The surgical emergency service is provided across three acute wards, triage and an ambulatory care unit based at the JR Hospital. This includes patient groups such as: Upper GI, Lower GI, HPB, Pancreatitis, High Output stomas, surgical patients post ICU, etc. Along with our current team of Dietitians you will contribute to the dietetic service provided to these units. With training and support there will also be the opportunity to help in other specialist area e.g. TPN.

Looking to the future with the construction of a new state-of-the-art adult intensive care facility and expansion of critical care services, the aim is to introduce the opportunity for rotational band 6 posts across critical care and emergency surgery.

The Acute adult team is made up of approximately 40 Dietitians, three Dietetic Assistants and administrative support. There are seven acute clinical teams, each responsible for providing a service to an identified clinical area across all four acute hospitals in Oxfordshire, namely, the John Radcliffe, the Churchill, the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre and the Horton Hospital. We work closely across all four hospitals with staff and patients moving between them, shared CPD opportunities and joint meetings. We work closely with the children’s dietitians who are based in the Oxford Children’s Hospital.

There is a commitment to personal development and CPD and an expectation that all staff are involved in corporate departmental project work and teaching of other healthcare professionals. All staff are actively involved in student training.
